The Designer
Jacqueline Quinn, Irish born designer, began her love affair with namesake Jacqueline Kennedy at a young age. The Kennedy ‘’look’’ was and remains today inspirational for women in the United States and all across Europe. By today's standard, Jacqueline Kennedy was an influencer at the historical moment when the art of dressmaking was experiencing a sartorial renaissance. When she purchased her first pillbox hat from Halston at Bergdorf Goodman, New York, and paired it with a sumptuous coat by the renowned designer Oleg Cassini; this collaboration was eloquent and enduring, creating Jacqueline Kennedy as a fashion icon. The original sketches Oleg designed for Jacqueline Kennedy will be on view at the event. They have not been shown to the public before.
‘’Oleg you are and will be in fashion history, the designer who created the indelible and stylish imager the First Lady. You should be proud of your achievement, you are the designer that inaugurated her style."
-Suzy Menkes, The International Tribune 2003
Quinn’s collection revives glamour and a feminine approach to fashion, influenced by silhouettes from the 'Jackie years.” The collection opens with a young vibrant dress line, emphasizing print, strong pops of color, beaded prints and florals. The collection is accessorized with gloves and Jackie’s signature large sunglasses, which are also designed by Quinn. In true dressmaker style, the couture collection is made with the most luxurious and sustainable fabrics, raw and satin silk, beaded and embroidered on delicate satin jacquards with a soft evening palette. Delectable pearl beading, Waterford crystal beads embrace glamour and are reminiscent of another era.
